The LaCie big disk has been garnering tons of attention from different bloggers and authority review sites like cnet and engadget. There are various models under the big disk line but the one that we love the most is the thunderbolt variant.
Coming in at almost $450, it's not the cheapest hard drive in the market today. In fact, it greatly exceeds the budget of majority of home users. But the fact is, this external hard drive may be the best external hard drive choice for the pros who deal with media files which demand high read and write speeds. If you are still on the fence on getting a good external hard drive for your computer, then you may not really have a need for it. The most you need it for is for additional space but it is still highly recommended to get one for backing up files.
For them, the $450 is worth every penny considering the time-savings this drive has to offer them.
Thunderbolt may be a new technology, but it's beginning to gain so much traction it would be hard to ignore the progress of this I/O interface. It may take time before it becomes as mainstream as USB 2.0 or USB 3.0, but there are a lot of people who are readily taking advantage of the 10GB/s speed that it has to offer them.
